Skype
I'm not usually on the bleeding edge of
technology, but I'm usually in the vicinity. I just signed up for Skype, and I
appeared to be about the 200 millionth person to do so.
Skype seems to be the leading voice
over IP service, effectively letting you make phone calls with your computer.
It's free if you talk to other Skype people, and it costs about 2 cents per
minute to make calls anywhere in the world,
otherwise.
My Skype address is
joedelta2 -- some French guy mysteriously took joedelta before I did. Weird!
Give me a buzz, if you like. You can also call my Skype phone number, 916 248
8973 (916 BIT TYPE) -- it costs $40 a year to have a real phone number that
non-Skypers can call you on.
I'll post
a more detailed review in a few weeks. If it works well, I might switch all of
Delta Tao's phone services to it.
