Carving Pumpkins

There's a little boy in Lyra Meadow's kindergarten class who said his family was carving apples for Halloween. I've never heard of this, but apparently it's a Russian tradition. I asked, "Apples, huh? Are you carving pumpkins, too?" His reply, and I quote: "Jesus doesn't want us to carve pumpkins."

I had no idea Jesus had such strict vegetable preferences.
